Green Sea Turtle

If there’s one species of turtle that can be considered endangered in its conservation status, count a green sea turtle in. This animal is the only turtle that belongs in the genus of Chelonia. Green sea turtles can be found in Atlantic and Pacific oceans. If you will have a research about this species, you will discover that a green sea turtle has three habitat styles, depending on the life stage it’s in.

Green sea turtles lay their eggs on beaches while mature turtles spend a big part of their life in coastal waters and shallow bodies of water. While on some part of their lives, they spend it in bays, lagoons and shoals. If you are thinking about the predators of these turtles, you will be surprised to know that humans and bigger sharks are the only predators that feed on these turtles. Can you imagine that? It’s really sad to think that even people are held responsible for the receding population of green sea turtles. Illegal poaching of these turtles are also rampant in some parts of the world. This is disappointing to thing that green sea turtles are endangered!
